Sigfrid Lundberg's Stuff 2010-05-05
The previous object is something that came or occurred before the one at hand. The previous installment of my digital object series addressed the vocabulary used in the Atom link tag describing relations between URI's.
Next means the nearest in place, degree, quality, rank, right or relation; having no similar object intervening. For page n the previous is page n-1 and the next is n+1. I haven't made up my mind about the next installment in this series.
In the previous installment we discussed up,
first, previous, next and
last. Now we discuss the meaning of
The National Library of Australia. Australian METS Profile TYPE attribute vocabulary. Version 1.0 https://www.nla.gov.au/standards/type-attribute-vocabulary
This list gives terms that can be used to describe content structure. The vocabulary is organized for the use in conjunc with Metadata Encoding and Transmission Standard (METS). Using this approach permits Australians to write stuff like:
<structMap TYPE="logical"> <div TYPE="newspaper"> <div TYPE="issue"> <div TYPE="edition"> <div TYPE="supplement"> <div TYPE="section"> <div TYPE="article"> <div TYPE="article part">
Having your content organized like this makes sense. All of a sudden you know the meaning of next.

My name is Sigfrid Lundberg. The stuff I publish here may, or may not, be of interest for anyone else.
On this site there is material on photography, music, literature and other stuff I enjoy in life. However, most of it is related to my profession as an Internet programmer and software developer within the area of digital libraries. I have been that at the Royal Danish Library, Copenhagen (Denmark) and, before that, Lund university library (Sweden).
The content here does not reflect the views of my employers. They are now all past employers, since I retired 1 May 2023.
